ERIK KRATZ SURFACES WITH NLL'S SAN DIEGO SEALS

August 1, 2018 by Owen Munro

He's in the midst of another excellent season with the New Westminster Salmonbellies, but it appears Erik Kratz has his rookie NLL season sorted out as well.

Kratz is trading a Salmonbellie jersey for a Seals jersey, signing with San Diego's expansion NLL club.

The goalie was one of 11 signings made by a busy San Diego Seals squad on the opening day of NLL Free Agency. He'll join Frank Scigliano, formerly of the Calgary Roughnecks and currently plying his trade with the WLA's Maple Ridge Burrards, in the crease for the Seals' expansion season.

The 2017 BCJALL Goaltender of the Year had another dominant season on the historic wood floor of Queens Park Arena. His 2018 numbers are arguably even stronger than his 2017 numbers. He improved on his win total, saves and minutes played while seeing a slight uptick in his goals against average and save percentage. Kratz went 14-5 with a 7.4 GAA and an .824 save percentage with 818 saves in 1160 minutes. He also had 9 assists. He continued his strong play into the playoffs where he currently has a 5-2 record with a 6.06 GAA and .850 save percentage.

Kratz will be joined by his former teammate in Drew Belgrave, who also signed a deal with the Seals after spending a rookie season with the Toronto Rock. Another former Bellie, Quinn MacKay, also signed on with the club.
